Log Collection Profile

Overview

With the help of Log collection profile, you can ingest logs remotely. Motadata AIOps is capable of collecting the logs remotely and without an agent installed on the end device. Moreover, the end device also does not necessarily needs to be added as a monitor in order to collect the logs.

Go to Main Menu, select Settings . After that, go to Log Settings . Select Log Collection Profile.

FieldDescription
Profile NameName of the Log Collection Profile.
DescriptionDescription for the log collection profile.
Collection TypeProtocol used for log collection.
Log ParserType of log parser assigned to the collection profile.
Collection StatusIndicates if Motadata AIOps is being able to fetch the logs from then device or not.
StatusIndicates if the logs are being collected or not.
ActionActions available for a Log Collection Profile.

Now, let's understand how to create a Log Collection Profile.

Create Log Collection Profile

On the Log Collection Profile screen, click on the Create Log Collection Profile option in the top right corner.

Enter the details of all the parameters on the Create Log Collection Profile screen as per the following:

Profile NameEnter the name of the Log Collection profile you want to create.
DescriptionProvide an appropriate description for the Log collection profile.
Collection TypeSelect a protocol for collection of logs using the dropdown menu.
Log ParserSelect a log parser type using the dropdown menu. If you do not select a category, the ingested logs will be showcased under the "Other" category in Log Explorer.
RunbookSelect an existing Runbook from the dropdown menu. This runbook will be used for Log Collection.
Create RunbookCreate a Runbook right from this screen if you do not have an existing Runbook for log collection.
Collection intervalSpecify the interval between two consecutive log collection.
TimeoutSpecify the duration after which Motadata AIOps should stop try to collect logs and abort the operation in the event of failure to reach the device.

Click on Create Log Collection Profile to save the changes and create the profile.

To reset fields, click on the Reset option.
