SNMP Trap Listener

SNMP Trap Listener is a component that allows the server to configure Motadata AIOps to listen to SNMP traps and ingest them in Motadata AIOps.

Go to Menu. Select Settings. Then, select SNMP Trap . After that, Select SNMP Trap Listener. The screen displays the already configured SNMP Trap Listeners.

FieldDescription
NameDisplays the SNMP Trap Listener Profile name.
DescriptionDisplays description associated with the particular profile.
SNMP VersionDisplays the SNMP Trap Listener version. i.e., v1/v2c or v3.
PortDisplays the port for the particular SNMP Trap listener.
ActionSelect to display the permissible actions for the SNMP Trap Listener Profile:

- Edit SNMP Trap Listener: This action allows you to change the SNMP Trap Listener details.

- Clone SNMP Trap Listener: This action allows you to clone the SNMP trap Listener profile. You can clone both the default as well as custom SNMP Trap Listener profiles.

- Delete SNMP Trap Listener: This action allows you to delete the custom SNMP Trap Listener.

Clicking the Create SNMP Trap Listener you can configure it. You can create and add multiple SNMP Listeners through this feature.

SNMP Trap Listener Configuration

SNMP Trap Listener Profile NameProvide a unique profile name to SNMP Trap Listener.
DescriptionDescription for the SNMP Trap Listener.
SNMP v1/v2cEnable the SNMP v1/v2c toggle button to configure the v1/v2c listener.
PortEnter the port number of the Motadata AIOps server that will receive the traps. Once a port is assigned to a listener profile, it cannot be used for another SNMP Trap Listener profile.
CommunityEnter the community string of the SNMP devices that will send the traps to the AIOps server.
SNMP v3Enable the SNMP v3 toggle button to configure the v3 listener.
PortEnter the port number of the Motadata AIOps server that will receive the traps. Once a port is assigned to a listener profile, it cannot be used for another SNMP Trap Listener profile.
Security User NameEnter the security user name of the SNMP devices that will send the traps to the AIOps server.
Security LevelSelect the Security Level from the dropdown. Provide subsequent details such as Authentication Protocol, Authentication Password, Privacy Protocol, Private Password based on the Security Level you select.

Once the listener is configured, click the Create SNMP Trap Listener Profile button to start listening for SNMP traps and ingest them in Motadata AIOps. You can click the Reset button to reset the details if required.

The traps will be parsed based on the configured SNMP Trap Profile and the notifications for the traps will be generated accordingly. The SNMP Trap Listener provides an efficient way to monitor SNMP-enabled devices and receive real-time alerts about any issues in infrastructure.
