QR Code

QR codes (Quick Response Codes) are two-dimensional barcodes storing information like URLs, text, or contact details, scannable by smartphones or digital devices. They enhance asset tracking by providing quick access to details, tracking location and status, and streamlining inventory management.

QR codes make asset management more efficient, accurate, and scalable, improving overall operational workflow.

This page allows you to activate QR code support, select parameters for QR code generation, and create label templates.

To activate QR Code support, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Admin > Asset Management > QR Code. The following page will then appear.

  1. Here, enable QR Code Support and select the parameters you want to use.
  2. Once completed, Update the preference. A new tab, Label Templates, will then appear.

Here, you have the following options:

  1. Search: Search for templates by name.
  2. Add Label Templates: Click to add new label templates.
  3. Grid: Displays template details based on the selected tab (Hardware, Software, and Non-IT assets).
  4. Enable/Disable: Enable or disable templates. Newly created templates are enabled by default.
  5. Default: Set a template as default. Only one template can be marked as default at a time.
  6. Duplicate: Create a duplicate copy of an existing template if required.
  7. Edit: Edit the template.

Add Label Templates

To add a new label template, follow these steps:

  1. Select the Asset Type (Hardware, Software, or Non-IT). For this example, Hardware Asset is selected.
  2. Click the Add Label Template button. The following popup will then appear.

  1. Enter the following details:
  • Label Width (inches): Enter the width of the label in inches.
  • Number of Labels per row: Enter the number of labels you want to view per row.
  • Gap between labels in a row (mm): Enter the amount of space to keep between labels in a single row.
  • Description: Enter a brief description of the template.
  • QR Code Design: Design the QR Code layout as per your requirement. To add asset parameters, copy them and paste into the Paragraph textbox of the design editor. You can change the textbox size as needed, and format the text using options like Bold, Italics, Underline, Font Size, Font Family, Text Color, and Image.
  1. Once completed, click Add. The template will then appear in the grid as shown below.

  1. You can now use this template when printing the QR code from the Hardware Asset Details page, as shown below.

note

Ensure the template matches the asset type of the selected assets. Only shared properties will display data; others will remain blank.
