Network Scan

Scan any IP range or specific set of IP addresses to discover assets and CIs across your network, using either credential-based or credential-less authentication.

Network Scan is the primary IP-based discovery method in ServiceOps. You define the scope (IP range or specific addresses), supply credentials, and ServiceOps connects to each device to collect asset data. You can run scans manually or schedule them to run automatically.

To access Network Scan, navigate to Admin > Discovery and Agents > Discovery > Network Scan.

Actions on the List Page

After saving a network scan, the following actions are available from the scan row.

Scheduler

Select Scheduler on the scan row to configure automated discovery, polling, and ping runs for that scan. The scheduler popup displays three tabs:

  • Discover Scan Schedule: Configure to automatically populate the inventory with newly discovered assets and CIs.
  • Polling Scan Schedule: Configure to regularly poll existing assets and CI devices to monitor their status and update their details.
  • Ping Schedule: Configure to check the active/inactive status and availability of assets and CIs.

Discover Scan Schedule

Click Create Discovery Schedule and configure the following:
