Email Server Error Code Reference

When an incoming or outgoing email server fails, ServiceOps displays a specific error code on the server card. Use this reference to identify the cause and resolve it.

ServiceOps manages all email connectivity under Admin > Support Channel > Emails. Use this guide when an email server card shows an Unreachable status or an error code appears in the Email Audit log. Error codes appear on the server card with an exact timestamp. Find your error code in the Quick Reference table below and follow the resolution steps on the linked page.

Prerequisites

  • You have the Admin role in ServiceOps.
  • You can access Admin > Support Channel > Emails to view the server list and the Email Audit log.
  • For Exchange and OAuth errors, you have access to the Azure Portal or can reach your Azure Administrator.

General Troubleshooting Steps

If an error persists after following the resolution steps for your error code, run through this checklist before contacting Motadata Support:

  1. Re-check the email server configuration (Server, Port, Security Type, Authentication Type) against the values from your mail provider.
  2. Use the Test Connection button on the configured server to confirm whether the issue is connectivity, authentication, or mailbox-related.
  3. For OAuth and Azure-based mailboxes, save the configurations again and complete the sign-in flow again.
  4. Check with your IT or network team for firewall, proxy, or certificate changes that may affect connectivity to the mail server.
  5. Review the Email Audit log in ServiceOps for the exact timestamp and additional error details.
  6. If unresolved, contact Motadata Support with the error code, error message, server name, and Email Audit details including the time the error first occurred.
