Forecast Report

The Forecast Report allows you to predict future metric behavior using historical data trends. It helps you anticipate threshold breaches, analyze utilization trends, and make proactive decisions about performance management. The report supports two forecasting modes: Percent Based and Time Based, providing flexibility for different use cases.

Select the data to be displayed on the report

To create a custom forecast report, follow the steps below and configure the fields according to your forecasting needs:

FieldDescription
Forecast TypeSelect the forecasting type: Percent Based or Time Based.
CounterChoose the metric you want to forecast. For Percent-Based, only percentage counters are supported; for Time-Based, both percentage and bytes-based counters are supported.
AggregationSelect the aggregation method (e.g., Average) for trend analysis.
Source FilterSelect how you want to filter your data—by Monitors, Groups, or Tags.
SourceSelect specific monitors, groups, or tags to include in the report.
Analyze the forecast range within the nextThis option is available for Percent-Based forecasting only. Choose a time range for prediction: 12 Hours, 1 Day, 2 Days, 1 Week, 2 Weeks, 1 Month, 2 Months, or 3 Months. The default timeline is 1 week.

Once you configure these fields selecting forecast type as Percent Based, it will generate a report displaying grids as below:

FieldDescription
MonitorDisplays the monitors as per the selected source.
Last ValueIt is the actual last value of selected counter.
ForecastIt displays the forecasted time to reach the threshold values of the selected counter. The column displays values as below:

- Insufficient Data: This value displays when the required historical data is insufficient.

- Stable Growth: It displays whether the threshold values are reached within the selected forecast time range or not.

- Numeric Value: Displays the forecast timeline of the threshold as per the configurations. i.e., 1 month 3 days

Once you configure these fields selecting forecast type as Time Based, it will generate a report displaying grids as below:

FieldDescription
MonitorDisplays the monitors as per the selected source.
Last ValueIt is the actual last value of selected counter.
ForecastIt displays the forecasted percentage based on the threshold time of the selected counter. The column displays values as below:

- Insufficient Data: This value displays when the required historical data is insufficient.

- Stable Growth: It displays whether the threshold values are reached within the selected forecast time range or not.

- Numeric Value: Displays the forecast timeline of the threshold as per the configurations. i.e., 30% in 7 days

You can configure the threshold values under the Threshold Setting option in the Properties configuration. The default threshold values for percentage based forecast type are 70%, 80%, and 90%. The default threshold values for time based forecast type are 1 Day, 1 Week, and 1 Month.

Select how the data will be displayed on the report

Changing the order of columns on the report

Use the simple drag-and-drop method to rearrange the order of columns. Drag columns from the Column Setting tab and place them in your desired order for the report.

Changing the column display name

You can change how column names appear in the report. Enter a custom name in the Display Name field of the corresponding column under the Column Setting tab.

Hide a column on the report

Hide unnecessary columns from the report by checking the Hide Column box under the Column Setting tab. This helps declutter the view and focus on relevant data.

Change the column header size

Adjust the size of column headers from the Header Font Size dropdown under the Style tab to match your visualization preferences.

Configure the columns in detail

Click on the Configure option beside a column under the Column Setting tab to open a pop-up and configure advanced settings.

The available configuration options are as follows:

Configuration OptionDescription
ResizableEnable resizing of the column width using drag-and-drop in the report.
SortableEnable sorting of the report based on the selected column’s values.
OrderableAllow the column order to be rearranged dynamically.
Width(%)Set the column width as a percentage of the report view.
Add Color ConfigurationConfigure color-coding rules for the column based on threshold values. For example, highlight metrics that exceed 90%.
Add Value ConfigurationCustomize how values appear based on predefined conditions.
IconAssign an icon (such as up/down arrows or trend indicators) to visually enhance column values.
Icon PositionChoose whether the icon appears before or after the value in the report.
CaseThis option allows you to control how column names are displayed. You can choose from the following case styles:

- Normal: Displays the column name in its original format.

- Uppercase: Displays all letters in capital letters (for example, MONITOR).

- Lowercase: Displays all letters in small letters (for example, monitor).

- Camel Case: Displays the column name with the first letter capitalized (for example, Monitor).

You can also set threshold by selecting threshold values under the Threshold Setting table.

By customizing these settings, you can enhance the clarity and visual effectiveness of your Forecast Reports, ensuring that predicted trends and threshold risks are displayed prominently for quick analysis.
