NCCM Device Inventory

In Motadata AIOps, the NCCM Device Inventory serves as the central hub for managing and monitoring devices configured for network configuration and compliance management (NCCM). This inventory provides crucial information about network monitors setup in Motadata AIOps, offering administrators a comprehensive overview and control over their network configurations.

Overview

The NCCM Device Inventory provides a detailed list of all the network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and core infrastructure components, configured as monitors in Motadata AIOps. This helps administrators in monitoring, managing, and ensuring the integrity of configurations across diverse vendor environments.

Go to Menu. Select Settings . After that, select Network Config Settings . Select Device Inventory. The list of all the network monitors is displayed on the screen.

Device Inventory Screen

The following fields are available on the Device Inventory screen:

FieldDescription
DeviceDisplays the name or identifier of the network device configured as a monitor in Motadata AIOps. It helps administrators quickly identify and locate specific devices in the inventory.
IP/HostSpecifies the IP address associated with the network device. This information aids in network identification and ensures accurate communication with the device.
System OIDRepresents the System Object Identifier (OID) of the network monitor. The System OID uniquely identifies the device.
VendorIndicates the vendor or manufacturer of the network monitor. It helps in categorizing and organizing devices based on their respective manufacturers.
TemplateIndicates the NCCM device template assigned to the NCCM device based on its OID. The template outlines guidelines for backup, restore, and synchronization processes, ensuring standardized configuration and compliance management.
Manage NCCM StatusThis field includes a toggle button that allows administrators to manually enable or disable network configuration and compliance management (NCCM) functionalities for the specific device. When enabled, the device undergoes NCCM discovery and becomes accessible for related functionalities. When disabled, the Backup for the NCCM device is stopped.
Credential Status

Provides insights into the credential-related status for enabling NCCM for a device. It indicates whether the credentials used for discovery were successful or if failures occurred at a specific stage of setting up the device as a NCCM device. Clicking on the status allows administrators to review and update credentials if needed.

You can also click the Add Credential to add the SSH/ Telnet Protocol based credential profile.

SchedulerIndicates the scheduler details for the backup and firmware upgrade of the NCCM device.
TypeSpecifies the type of the network device, such as router, switch, firewall, or other core infrastructure components.
ActionsRefer the content below to read about the actions available for a NCCM device.

You can also configure the columns to be displayed in the grid using eye icon. Filter the list using filter and tags icon.

Selecting multiple devices together you can perform bulk operations available under action icon. Also, there are options to export the list as CSV and PDF if required.

Actions in NCCM Device Inventory

The following actions are available for a device listed in NCCM device inventory:

ActionsDescription
Schedule BackupThis action allows administrators to schedule regular backups for the configurations of the NCCM device. By defining a backup schedule, users ensure that critical configuration files, including startup and running configs, are periodically saved.
Update CredentialThis action provides administrators the ability to modify and update the credential profile associated with the NCCM device. If there are changes in authentication details or if the initial credential setup encounters issues, administrators can use this action to ensure communication with the device.
Update TemplateThis action allows administrators to update the device template assigned to the NCCM device. The device template outlines the configuration management guidelines, including backup and restore processes.
Attach Storage ProfileThis action enables administrators to associate a storage profile with the NCCM device. This profile defines the storage destination for configuration backups, allowing users to save copies of configuration files externally. By attaching a storage profile, ensure secure storage, especially when backups need to be stored on an external server apart from the local Motadata AIOps server.

Enabling network configuration and compliance management from Device Inventory

Enable NCCM from Device Inventory: If the device is not enabled for NCCM during discovery for monitoring, administrators can switch ON the Manage NCCM Status button in the NCCM Device Inventory. This step activates the NCCM discovery for the device, and functionalities become accessible after the initial backup.
