Adding and Managing Devices in ObserveOps (formerly known as AIOps)
ObserveOps monitors your infrastructure by discovering devices and turning them into monitors. Before ObserveOps can collect data from any device, it needs to know how to reach it and where to find it. You set that up through two profiles: a Credential Profile and a Discovery Profile.
How Device Onboarding Works
ObserveOps uses a Credential Profile to authenticate with devices and a Discovery Profile to define the scan scope. Once discovery runs, found devices appear on the Provisioning screen for you to confirm as monitors.
Adding devices follows these steps:
- Create a Credential Profile to store device authentication details.
- Create a Discovery Profile to define the target devices and link the Credential Profile.
- Run the discovery to scan your network.
- Provision discovered devices as monitors on the Provisioning screen.
What You Can Do
| Capability | Description |
|---|---|
| Automatic Device Discovery | Scan IP ranges, subnets, or CIDR blocks to discover devices automatically |
| Broad Device Support | Monitor servers, cloud resources, network devices, containers, databases, and more |
| Configurable Monitors | Provision discovered devices with configurable polling intervals and alert thresholds |
| Notification Rules | Alert your team when devices go offline or exceed defined thresholds |
| Device Grouping | Group devices into logical collections for organized, role-based monitoring |
Device Categories
ObserveOps supports monitoring across 14 device categories. Select a category to view setup steps and credential requirements.
