What is Asset Management?
📄️ Asset List View
The Asset List View page helps the technicians to track and manage all the assets. It displays a list of assets along with the options like generate barcode, scan barcode, export, refresh, import, column selection, and assets in stage at one place. The asset list appears as per the option selected from the menu. Also, you can filter the list using the default or custom filters.

📄️ Barcodes
For the uniqueness and ease of business, organization can store and track information about their physical assets, from individual items to large stocks.
📄️ QR Code
QR Codes contain data for a locator or tracker that points out to an application. Here, in our case we use for Asset Tracking. QR code is an abbreviation for Quick Response Code which is purposely used to speed up the readability. Generally, QR Codes consist of black squares arranged in a square grid with a white background.
📄️ Hardware Asset Details Page
On the Asset Details page, you can view the complete details of the asset and perform the desired activity. To view the Asset Details page, on the Asset List page click on the Asset ID, and the below page appears.
📄️ Software Asset Details Page
On the Software Asset Details page you can view the complete details of the asset and perform the desired activity.
📄️ Non-IT Asset Details Page
On the Non-IT Asset Details page you can view the complete details of the asset and perform the desired activity.
📄️ Consumable Asset Details Page
On the Consumable Asset Details page you can view the complete details of the asset and perform the desired activity.
📄️ Asset Actions
To view the asset actions, on the top-right corner of the page, click the vertical three dots, and a set of actions appear as shown below.
📄️ Asset Confirmation
Whenever an asset is assigned to any user, it is better to take a confirmation for the same. This helps to assign only those assets that are actually required, leading to the optimum utilization of assets. Hence, ServiceOps supports taking a confirmation from the user for asset assignment. To take confirmation, enable the option "Enable Asset Confirmation from Used By" from the Asset Preference, and configure the following details.

When you are working on an asset, you can update its basic details, parameters, other info, and various activities or actions associated with it. There are many approaches to update the asset details:
📄️ Software License
A Software License is an instrument that governs the use and redistribution of software. It exists in the form of an agreement between the Software Vendor and the purchaser of the software. The license details contain information like the expiry date of the license, terms, and conditions of usage of total asset allocation, etc.
📄️ Software License List View
The page helps the technicians to view and manage the software licenses. It displays a list of licenses along with their details and options to refresh, import and add new software licenses. Also, you can filter and search for a specific license based on the pre-defined fields like Name, Product, License Type, and Expiry Date.
📄️ Add Software License
You can add a Software License directly into the system when you are logged in.
📄️ Software License Details Page
The page displays the complete details of the software license. You can access this page from the Software License list page (by clicking on the Software License subject).
📄️ Software Meter
Metering is a convenient tool to track the utilization of a software application across the machines in an organization. Using Metering, CMDB can track two usage statistics of a Software Asset using an Agent. A user has to enable Metering individually for Software Assets that one wants to track. Currently, Metering tracks the following information of a Software Asset:
