5.6. Knowledge Permissions

Permission settings in an Article/FAQ allows the author to control who can view and who can edit the content. There are two types of permissions: view permission and edit permission.

When you create a content, you set a visibility, and the corresponding visibility has a permission settings:

  • Public Article/FAQ: Write Permission

  • Private Article/FAQ: Read Permission and Write Permission.

5.6.1. Adding permission to an Article/FAQ

An author can add permission when creating a content and editing it. Learn how to create an Article/FAQ and editing.

When a content is in edit mode, the author can add a permission from the Permissions button in the top right corner.

5.6.1.1. Types of Permissions

  1. Read Permission: In a private Article/FAQ the author can explicitly mention who can view the content. He/she can select individual requesters and also requester groups. In a public content every requester has the view right.

  1. Write Permission: In both private and public Article/FAQ, the author can explicitly mention Technician names and groups who can edit the content. Both Technician name and group lists are filtered based on the location permission given to the author. Learn more about Location Scope.
